Pink peppercorn mahi mahi with pineapple salsa. I've been doing a lot of internet reading on food photography.

29. January 30th

We went to the local farmer's market this morning. I forget how much stuff is there. We must go back more often.

28. January 29th

More manatee action, this time with a polarizing filter. We got there late, and the sun was already pretty low. I'm hoping to try one more time during optimal daylight hours.

27. January 28th

I bought a polarizing filter yesterday. I went to a koi pond at a shopping plaza, and messed around with it. This guy was hanging out by the pond as well.

I'm loving the filter! I went for the cheapest one - costing about $35 at a local shop. Here is a comparison:

25. January 26th

Not a very good day photography-wise. I got a shot of the Dueling Dragons roller coaster at Islands of Adventure. I like this picture because a little part of the Hogwarts Castle is visible in the background. This is part of the Harry Potter-themed area that is opening in the park later this year.

24. January 25th

My baby has been very sleepy this afternoon.

I also wanted to include this one, because I'm loving back lighting right now. Sienna was an agreeable subject. I cropped this one a bit.

Still messing around with back lighting.

18. January 19th

I read Bryan Peterson's Understanding Exposure over the weekend. I already knew a lot of the basics, but it was good to hear it explained again. I tried to capture the translucency of these back-lit leaves. Sorry about the screen.

17. January 18th

We went to see the manatees yesterday. They are at the springs in record numbers this year - their estimate was around 150. I wish I had a polarizing filter for the camera. All the gray blobs are manatees.

Probably 50 or so manatees in this shot

16. January 17th

I used the lightscoop and my macro lens to take this picture after an early morning feeding. I like how you can almost see my reflection in his eyes.

15. January 16th

I've been mostly playing with my new lightscoop, but I managed to duck outside and took this while running errands. I was attempting to get the neon lights to glow in the picture.
