February 28th

I found a cockroach climbing around on my foot while I was driving. Luckily, I was stopped at a light and not on the interstate. I quickly pulled over, jumped out and killed the thing. And then I freaked out. I got a mint cookies and cream milkshake to help calm my nerves.

February 27th

Cinnamon-sugar donut muffins. They were so good.

February 26th

We spent most of the day at Islands of Adventure. We have been on the new Harry Potter ride (back when the park first opened), but had never seen the inside of the castle. We kept getting hustled along to keep the line moving, but I managed to snap a few pictures.

February 25th

We spent the night at the Port Orleans resort.

This is really two resorts in one - a French Quarter area, and a Riverside area.

We stayed in the French Quarter part. Disney's attention to detail is amazing.

The grounds are like a cleaner, idealistic, more compact version of the real thing (minus the Dixieland band of gators.)

February 24th

There is a huge splash zone at a local park.

Luckily, I was there when the water was turned off. Can't wait to come back with the tyke when it is warmer. He'll love the place.

February 23rd

The tabebuia trees are in bloom. They have pale purple/pink flowers, or yellow flowers. I love the yellow ones. So vibrant. They really stand out.

February 22nd

Most of this area used to be orange groves. There are wild orange trees growing randomly all over the place.

February 21st

I spent the day driving to Jax and back, so I didn't have time to take any pictures. Here are a few of Hubs and the tyke enjoying some of our strawberries.

February 20th

Today was National Cherry Pie Day. I made a cherry pie. Since fresh cherries are hard to come by this time of year, I used frozen cherries.

February 19th

We went strawberry picking today. It was the first week the patch was open. The berries tasted amazing, and we picked 9 lbs. I have a feeling we will be picking more in the near future.



The tyke was a great picker. He went right for the reddest berries.

February 18th

Another picture of hot fudge sauce. The problem with taking pictures of all these sundaes, is that I feel obligated to eat them after I'm done with the photographing.

February 17th

Since I live so close to places that promote fantasy, I decided to pretend to be in Italy. This is the Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando.

Toast thief. This picture is so dark because I forgot that I had a polarizing filter on the lens.

I made homemade hot fudge sauce, and am addicted to sundaes. Only, I can feel my butt get bigger as I eat. I like the angle of this picture, but not happy with the lighting and background.

Roses at this store are usually $8.99/dozen. Happy Valentine's Day.

Finally took the cardboard to the recycling bin. This isn't even all of it. There's still a bunch more in the garage.

My husband and son decided to dress identically today. I don't like how blown out the window in the background is.

It was this temperature in my afternoon classroom. Luckily, I only spent about 2 hours in the room.

Still recovering from food poisoning....Here is a picture from our Saturday visit to the farmer's market.

I've had food poisoning since Tuesday night, and have been pretty useless for the duration. I give you a picture from a few days ago. This is a persian love cake. This is the dessert that uses the sugared rose petals.

Another kid and kitty picture. What surprises me about this picture is that I managed to capture the sun coming in from the sliding doors (mostly) without blowing it out. The faces are a little dark, but it is something I could fix in post-editing, if I were ambitious enough.
