July 1st

Our last day in Belgium. We went to Brussels to buy lots of chocolate to bring home.

Also gave me another chance to photograph the city.

I tried employing some of the composition techniques I learned in Paris.

June 28th

Our second day in Paris. I went to a photo tour, which was basically a 3 hour walking photo lesson.

I learned about some features of my camera (how to read histograms)

how to line up a shot so the horizon is level (still working on that)...

compose a shot...

capture a moment...

and how to take a panning shot

June 27th

Our first day in Paris. Went on a bike tour of the pretty parts of the city. It was almost too hot to take pictures. Almost.

Oh, glorious cheese!

Spent the day in Maastricht, Netherlands. The weather finally co-operated. It was the perfect day for an outdoor lunch at a cafe.

Saw a concert band perform in a square, and went to a very cool food shop.

And snapped probably my best indoor shot of a cathedral. It's so hard when the lighting is that dim.

Went to Cologne today. Spent lots of time hanging around the Domplatz and the old town.

Had some great schnitzel.

February 25th

We spent the night at the Port Orleans resort.

This is really two resorts in one - a French Quarter area, and a Riverside area.

We stayed in the French Quarter part. Disney's attention to detail is amazing.

The grounds are like a cleaner, idealistic, more compact version of the real thing (minus the Dixieland band of gators.)

Since I live so close to places that promote fantasy, I decided to pretend to be in Italy. This is the Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando.
