June 29th

Spent the morning at a bread baking class in the Montmarte district. We learned how to make baguettes, brioche, and fougasse.

Picked up my husband at the Louvre, and toured the city a bit before hopping on the train back to Belgium.

Made a quick stop at Laduree to pick up some of these.

June 28th

Our second day in Paris. I went to a photo tour, which was basically a 3 hour walking photo lesson.

I learned about some features of my camera (how to read histograms)

how to line up a shot so the horizon is level (still working on that)...

compose a shot...

capture a moment...

and how to take a panning shot

June 27th

Our first day in Paris. Went on a bike tour of the pretty parts of the city. It was almost too hot to take pictures. Almost.

June 26th

Oh, glorious cheese!

Spent the day in Maastricht, Netherlands. The weather finally co-operated. It was the perfect day for an outdoor lunch at a cafe.

Saw a concert band perform in a square, and went to a very cool food shop.

And snapped probably my best indoor shot of a cathedral. It's so hard when the lighting is that dim.

June 25th

Another rainy day in Belgium. We hung out at the aquarium (Aquatopia) in Antwerp. My favorite picture from the day was of my husband and brother-in-law taking a whiz in a public stall.

Fun with umbrella.

June 23rd

Second day in Cologne. Crashed a Bouler (bocce) tournament and had some beer and brats.

Also went to the chocolate museum.

June 22nd

Went to Cologne today. Spent lots of time hanging around the Domplatz and the old town.

Had some great schnitzel.

June 21st

Spent the day in Brussels. Very cool city.

Did some touristy stuff, and ate lots of great food.

June 20th

Went to a science museum today. Still adjusting to the time change, so we didn't want to do anything too mentally or physically taxing. There was a gigantic Rube-Goldberg contraption on display.

June 19th

Another thing we did on our first day in Belgium was try a lot of beer. The most unique was this cherry beer, which is a Belgium specialty.

June 18th

Spent most of the day traveling, and finally made it to Belgium. One thing we did on our first day there was go for a walk around the neighborhood.

I am counting this for Saturday because it still felt like Saturday (U.S. time) even though this walk took place on Sunday (Belgium time.)

June 17th

This is the 420 burger from a local food truck. It has thick-cut bacon, cheese, pineapple, onion ring, and some kind of tasty sauce. We devoured it for lunch today. My husband had to explain to me the meaning of "420."

June 16th

We went to a food truck pod the other night, and I had a very tasty Colombian burger. I hardly ever take a food picture that looks this good SOOC (minus the bite mark in the bun.) We also fed some young ducks.

June 15th

Got some reading material for the long flight to Belgium.
