October 7th

Took the tyke to the Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party tonight. He dressed up as Charlie Brown.

We were hampered by rain for the first hour, but after we got candy, all was well.

There were spooky decorations

a parade

characters

and fireworks

The tyke loved it all, especially the candy.

Earlier in the day, I took lots of pictures of the sky, for Day 3 of the 30 Day Challenge: Clouds. I was afraid that it would be a typical cloudless day in Florida, but the impending storm made the sky much more interesting.

September 27th

Trying to make the most of the backlit water. Forgot to use a lens hood, so there's a flare.

September 23rd

Another funky sky, this one on the way to an evening rehearsal.

September 20th

There was a really funky sky out this afternoon. I don't think I've seen such a dark, dark sky with dots of light gray clouds.

August 29th

Love this road. It is on the way to a colleague's school. It is one of the most rural roads in the area. Can't believe there's a middle school there. There was also a cool sky due to the mid-day storm.

August 12th

Visiting my mom for the weekend. Had fun at the beach.

We discovered the best time to go was late afternoon/early evening. The beach and sand cool off by then. I love this picture of my husband and son. They look exactly alike.

I live close to two airports. Hoping to improve skills at getting landing shots.

June 28th

Our second day in Paris. I went to a photo tour, which was basically a 3 hour walking photo lesson.

I learned about some features of my camera (how to read histograms)

how to line up a shot so the horizon is level (still working on that)...

compose a shot...

capture a moment...

and how to take a panning shot

May 10th

This sunset was way more vivid IRL. I didn't know until after it had set that there is a "sunset" setting on my camera phone. Have to remember that for next time.

May 1st

I always seem to grab my camera two minutes too late to get the best colors of the sunset.

April 5th

This was the sky on the way to work. Another stormy day.

March 31st

It's been raining for two days straight. We've had tornado warnings and watches all day. The sky was definitely looking green.

January 22nd

While at Disney, we watched the fireworks from the outdoor staircase at the Contemporary Resort. This gave us a birdseye view, even though they were a bit off-center. Most of the pyrotechnics appeared over Space Mountain. I set up my tripod, and used a remote shutter release. I'm still figuring out the best settings. I should've increased the aperture for the finale, because there were so many things exploding, the shot got way blown out. Here's the one decent picture of fireworks over the castle.

42. February 12th

It rained all day. Right before sunset, we got a patch of blue sky.
